Expert Advisory Panel to the UK’s State of the Science Report on Advanced AI Safety.

The International Scientific Report on Advanced AI Safety will drive an up-to-date, science-based understanding of the safety of advanced AI systems. Announced at the AI Safety Summit in November 2023, the UK has commissioned Yoshua Bengio, a Turing Award-winning AI academic and member of the UN’s Scientific Advisory Board, to Chair the Report. The panel is an international advisory body who will advise the Chair on the content of the Report. It consists of nominated representatives from the 30 nations that were invited to the UK AI Safety Summit, and the UN and the EU. It will share and promote the findings of the report in their own countries.

The Global Commission on Responsible Artificial Intelligence in the Military Domain (GC REAIM) is an initiative of the Government of the Netherlands that was launched during the 2023 REAIM Summit on Responsible Artificial Intelligence in the Military Domain in The Hague. Upon request of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Hague Centre for Strategic Studies acts as the Secretariat of the Commission. GC REAIM is being established, for an initial period of two years, to help promote mutual awareness and understanding among the many communities working on issues related to the global governance of AI in the military domain. By linking dialogues between these communities, the Global Commission will contribute to an essential global task: supporting fundamental norm development and policy coherence in this field.

UNSG AI Advisory Board

The UN Secretary-General is convening a multi-stakeholder High-level Advisory Body on AI to undertake analysis and advance recommendations for the international governance of AI. Bringing together up to 38 experts in relevant disciplines from around the world, the Body will offer diverse perspectives and options on how AI can be governed for the common good, aligning internationally interoperable governance with human rights and the Sustainable Development Goals. The Body, which will comprise experts from government, private sector and civil society, will engage and consult widely with existing and emerging initiatives and international organizations, to bridge perspectives across stakeholder groups and networks.

Task Force on Cybersecurity for AI

The "Taskforce on CybSec4AI" was initiated by Prof. K. Vijay Raghavan, Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) with a vision to create self-reliance in developing cyber security tools using AI/ML technologies, and building secured AI/ML systems and applications. A well-researched report on Cyber Security and AI was released by the task force committee and is available on the PSA's website. This report identifies both the R&D initiatives to be undertaken in the cross-discipline of AI and cyber security and specialized skill building in this domain.

Shakti: India Election Fact-Checking Collective, is a consortium of fact-checkers and news publishers in India who started working collaboratively in the run up to the 2024 polls to aid early detection of online misinformation and deepfakes, and to amplify the reach of fact-checks in local languages. Driven by DataLEADS, this effort was run in collaboration with the Misinformation Combat Alliance (MCA), The Quint, Vishvas News, BOOM, Factly and Newschecker and is enabled with support from the Google News Initiative.
