Sriya Sridhar

Senior Policy Analyst

CeRAI IIT Madras

Sriya Sridhar is a lawyer by training, specialising in the intersection of the law and emerging technologies. Sriya’s research focuses on regulatory design for AI, the legal and societal impacts of the use of emotionally responsive and human-mimicking systems, AI and education, and the impact of AI on knowledge futures. Her work has been published in SCRIPTED: A Journal of Technology, Law and Society, and various online platforms such as Tech Policy Press and the Indian Journal of Law and Technology blog. Sriya is also on the Editorial Team of the Cambridge Journal of Artificial Intelligence. She conceptualised the ‘Feeling Automated’ project, a first of its kind research project in India, on the ethical development of emotional AI systems. Prior to joining CeRAI, Sriya was Visiting Faculty of Law at the National Law School of India University, a Research Fellow with The Pranava Institute, and a Fellow with the Shiv Nadar School of Law. She previously practiced law at a leading Indian law firm in the IP and Technology practice, and as in-house product counsel with a fintech company. She holds an undergraduate law degree from Jindal Global Law School and a Masters’ with Distinction in Innovation, Technology and the Law, from the University of Edinburgh.
